How these terms are used
- Receipts
- Money the foundation received in the year. Receipts are not spending.
- Commitments
- Grants approved by the board. A commitment is not a payment.
- Disbursements
- Payments actually made to a program or grantee.
- Operating expenses
- The cost of running the foundation itself.
Grant-making approach
How we decide.
Grants are reviewed by the board before disbursement. We don't run a public application process.
Our gift acceptance policy governs what gifts we accept; our investment policy statement governs how undeployed capital is held between disbursements.
If you represent a partner organization aligned with one of our three pillars, we welcome the introduction. Email hello@zezulafoundation.org.
