Investment Policy Statement

How undeployed capital is invested between disbursements.

The Zezula Foundation holds operating cash and short-term reserves in FDIC-insured deposit accounts and short-term U.S. Treasury instruments. The foundation does not hold long-term equity or fixed-income portfolios at this scale.

The investment policy is conservative by design. Capital is deployed to program areas in the year of receipt to the extent practical, consistent with our annual grant-making cycle. Funds held between receipt and disbursement are not subject to market risk beyond inflation.

As the foundation's reserves grow, the board will revisit this policy with input from a qualified investment advisor. A revised investment policy will be adopted by board resolution and published here.

The foundation's investment objectives, ordered by priority, are: (1) preservation of capital, (2) liquidity for grant-making, (3) modest return consistent with prudent stewardship.
